Cardiff

There is a 3G pitch at Llys tal y bont but this is a training pitch and 3/4 size.

Power leagues and Gol centre playing surface is 3G albeit small sided football, we are also developing small sided 3G pitches across some of our Park sites.

We have developed a specific football strategy for Cardiff, "growing the game" to look at full size provision in partnership with the FAW Trust and will hopefully have our first full size 3G at the University Playing Fields, Llanrumney as a joint initiative between the University, FAW and Cardiff Council this year after the Olympic football has moved off site.

Planning for the 3 G investment will need to consider different operating models which could include School sites, Parks and Voluntary/Private partnerships.

In the Autumn WLGA,WG ,Sports Wales and Chief Leisure officers are running a seminar and one of the topic areas will be 3G and the results so far based on Caerphilly . We are looking to invite the Minister for Culture ,Sport and Heritage.

The main outcome for us is to centre the 3G around a robust club model to increase, improve and sustain participation whilst also considering decommissioning of grass football pitches to make the future saving and efficiency targets for Parks and Sport. The income model may also help support and sustain the Sporting Hub model as they come on stream.
